Title: BROKEN - latest feedback = LE
Post by: Rush Limbo on September 02, 2011, 11:37 pm
Anyone noticed latest feedback for seller "broken":

"This guy musta got busted & tryna take us down with him... WTF world?"

"LE at my doorstep... Great -_-"

"Shoulda stuck with what I knew instead of pinching bitcents."

WTF???

He doesn't use GPG...

The statements don't make a whole lot of sense.. Why put "LE at door" Why not be a bit more intuitive? The only thing that I can see is maybe he had bad packaging. The comments don't really say too much.. Just makes it worrisome..

Or, LE actually purchased it and is trying to scare people off..

more than likely it's a customer trolling.

funny how he got all his neg feedback in the same day.  we'll see what happens in the days to come...  what if a competitor is trying to discredit him? just another reason for more transparency in buyer feedback ratings.

Looks like we can assume that he's getting scammed.

From his profile page:

New rule as of 09/01/2011 - Due to assholes scamming me, getting their goods and then ruining my name and perfect rating by leaving negative feedback under different user names - from now on i am only selling out of escrow to new users with a feedback rating of less than 3 completed transactions. any orders received by new members with less than 3 feedback will be CANCELLED / REFUNDED immediately. if you wish to buy from me and you are a new user with feedback less than 3, you will need to contact me directly to make a purchase out of escrow. all other users who have established good feedback ratings higher than 3 completed transactions can use the below protocol:

Broken has a new pgp key... This concerns me..

It does look a little strange.  His feedback for 60 odd transactions going back a month is a string of perfect 5's.  Then one day ago he gets several bad and strange feedbacks:

1 of 5   Never got my product would like a refund. Horrible contact and can careless If you receive your product. Very disappointing.   item   15 hours
1 of 5   This guy musta got busted & tryna take us down with him... WTF world?   item   20 hours
5 of 5   Got what I ordered. Quick shipping.   item   23 hours
5 of 5   perfect   item   23 hours
1 of 5   LE at my doorstep... Great -_-   item   1 day
1 of 5   Shoulda stuck with what I knew instead of pinching bitcents.   item   1 day

The last line sounds like maybe someone tried to save some BTC and went direct, only something went wrong.  Then you have a guy saying LE is at their doorstep, then two good feedbacks, then another one hinting that LE is involved.   By the time you get to the last bad feedback it sounds like Broken must have been in a really bad mood and took it out on the next person to complain about not getting product.

I can understand Broken being upset about getting several buyers complaining about not getting their packages all in one day, after a month of perfect reviews.  But I am wondering if he went a little overboard in his anger.

Nobody likes getting scammed, but from his updated profile it looks like he has decided that anybody who buys from him is a possible scammer.

It is amazing to me that he says 'In my 15+ years of selling online I have never had anyone's item lost or stolen'.  If true, that would have to be a record of some kind.  How many people, selling legitimate product, can say they have never had an item go astray after 15 years?

I do not suppose it really makes any difference whether it is true or not.  The problem I see here is that in trying to minimize the possibility of him being scammed, he has let his anger do the talking.  Rather than taking the time to update his profile with a reasoned plea explaining why he is changing his procedures, it sounds like he is saying:

'Fuck you, I don't need your business, anybody buying the first time could be trying to scam me, so here are my terms, take it or leave it'

I don't know about you, but if I was thinking about buying some of his product, and then read that profile, I would go looking somewhere else.  Shit happens, packages get lost or seized.  Reading that I get the feeling that even with a good set of buyer stats, if someone claimed the package never got to them he would say sorry, screw off.

If he had come onto the forums and posted some sort of reasonable response, things would probably have gone back to normal eventually.  Now he has people saying things like 'Did he get busted?'  or 'Is LE on his trail'.  Enboom says he has changed his PGP key and Chronicpain says he never had a key.

This cannot be good for his future sales on SR.  Something like this could hang around for ages, with everybody wondering what the hell is going on, with even good repeat customers wondering about buying from him again.

As usual, that's my two BTC's worth (and we all know the value of that these days  :) )

There's a chance that i was looking at a product page and not his main page. Hence the reason for me thinking he didn't have gpg key. Looking back, I think I was looking at his main page. But I just wanted to put it out there that I may have been mistaken..(Im leaning on that there wasn't gpg key a couple days ago)

everything is fine.  i'm sure some of you who have been here a while can recall other instances where a buyer has claimed they have been busted (well how are you still typing then?)   out of the 4 neg. feedbacks i received i may have deserved the one from john1234 - there was a problem with decoding  gpg/pgp when he tried to send me his address, and i could not decode it. I told him to resend the address, but he never did; some excuse like a family emergency.  he never asked for a refund and i eventually just forgot about him after waiting for a couple weeks for his shipping address.  i have decided it was a problem on my end  (pgp user error) and so i changed my pgp.

as far as the other three feedbacks go, i believe it was a scammer or another seller trying to ruin / discredit me.  once i initiated my "no more than 1 per new buyer policy" i started getting orders from people using different usrernames.   One instance in particular from user "n00p"  who also goes by "CupOJoe" where i noticed they were they same exact person / shipping address, just different names.  i PMed the user saying i will not ship your second order until you receive your first order and leave positive feedback.   he messages me a few days later saying he received the item, but for some lame reason could not leave +feedback and insisted that he didn't have two user accounts on SR and also insisted i ship his second order immediately.  well, when i refused to ship it is when i probably pissed him off.
Silk Road needs more transparency as far as buyer feedback is concerned, if everyone were able to view the feedback ratings of the users leaving negative feedback it might give the community more insight as to whats really going on and where the burden of proof lies.  if you look at the neg. feedback i received two were at the exact same time and all of them were for the exact same product.  i feel its kinda lame that a seller should have to come on here and defend himself, especially after one person cries wolf.    Lesson to be learned for all sellers -  never sell to new users who haven't established their buyer rating unless its a deal on the side.

i will probably be hanging it up for now, so if you see my listings disappear, don't be concerned - I have not been busted and if i ever were, i would never cooperate with LE under any circumstance.  its [selling] just not worth it for me now, especially after all this negative publicity.  product is moving too slow now and it seems like every day bitcoin value is dropping.  i have realized that for the most part, most buyers here are honest and good people, but there's always going to be a few bad apples who ruin it for everyone else.  And to those bad apples, i'm calling you out.

Broken is legit. I've ordered from him 4 times now and never had to wait more than 5 days for an order to arrive. His prices are the best on SR as well.

Calling him LE over a few bad feedback ratings is some fear mongering bullshit.

broken is a cool guy, i can vouch for him.

unfortunately some trolls just love to troll, they are probably reading this thread laughing about it, but fuck em, they will get raped by mother karma eventually and we will all have the last laugh.

Hope you reconsider, Broken.  I was really impressed with your prices, quick communication, and superfast shipping.  I hope you return soon.
